Crypto traders put a $110 billion tag on Jio's IPO — via a thin Bitget futures contract
A Bitget perpetual futures contract is pricing India's Jio Platforms at about $110 billion as its record IPO opens for subscription — a roughly 4% premium to the offering's top price band, on just $4.4 million of volume.
A perpetual futures contract on Bitget is valuing Reliance's Jio Platforms at roughly $110 billion, running slightly ahead of the price band on what would be India's largest-ever IPO, according to CoinDesk. The catch: it's a leveraged side-bet, on one exchange, with very little money behind it.
The JIOUSDT contract traded near $12 on Thursday, CoinDesk reported — about a 3.8% premium to the roughly $106 billion valuation implied by the IPO's upper band. Jio set a maximum bid of 1,119 rupees ($11.79) per share and is expected to have about 9.21 billion shares outstanding after the sale, putting the top-band valuation at around 10.3 trillion rupees ($106 billion). The offering, open for a three-day subscription, seeks to raise about 302 billion rupees and would overtake Hyundai Motor India's 279 billion-rupee 2024 listing as the country's biggest.
The contract, launched Oct. 14, has traded between $11.48 and $12.24 since, on total volume of roughly 369,000 JIO — about $4.4 million. Holders get leveraged price exposure only: no shares, no votes, no dividends. Traders post the stablecoin USDT as collateral. Bitget says the product is "based on publicly available information, such as announced IPO pricing ranges or the final offering price," and that it will convert to a standard perpetual once Jio lists. A delay, repricing or cancellation could move it sharply.

The real-world read "$110 billion" is a headline doing more work than the market behind it supports. This is a perpetual future — a bet on price with no expiry and no claim on the company — not a share price. The entire signal rests on $4.4 million of lifetime volume on a single exchange's own product, and Bitget is an interested party selling that product. Pre-IPO crypto contracts also have a track record of being wrong: CoinDesk notes SpaceX synthetic perps on Hyperliquid and Binance traded at levels implying a $2.2 trillion valuation, nearly 20% above the company's eventual $1.8 trillion IPO figure. A 4% premium on a thinly traded contract is price discovery in the loosest sense. Note too that this is secondary reporting — CoinDesk citing the on-exchange price and Bitget's own description; Jio's actual demand will be set by the subscription book, not by JIOUSDT.
