Solana says it cleared 1.01 billion weekly transactions, citing a Blockworks figure it didn't link
Solana's official account said the network processed 1,012,226,009 transactions in the week of July 27 to August 2, citing Blockworks data it did not link.
Solana's official account posted on August 5 at 1:20 p.m. UTC that the network's transaction count for the week of July 27 to August 2 "crossed 1B, with a new all-time-high of 1,012,226,009 transactions," attributing the number to Blockworks. The post included a chart image but no link to the underlying dashboard, and no methodology.
That precision — nine digits, no rounding — is worth pausing on, because the number's meaning depends entirely on what Blockworks counts. Solana's ledger includes consensus vote transactions alongside user activity, and the post does not say whether the 1.01 billion figure is total transactions, non-vote transactions, or successful transactions only. Failed transactions are also recorded on-chain. None of that is broken out.
The claim is also not the first of its kind. In a reply thread, @MurphyChuwang wrote on August 4 that Solana has "crossed 1 billion transactions" twice in the last two months, calling it "a repeatable feat, driven by sustained network activity across DeFi, payments, DePIN, consumer apps." That is an unverified account's characterisation, not a corroborating dataset — but if accurate, it means the milestone framing is about a new peak, not a first crossing.
Key facts
- 1,012,226,009 transactions for the week of July 27–Aug 2, described as an all-time high — Solana's official X account, Aug 5, 2026, 1:20 p.m. UTC, sourcing @Blockworks.
- No link to Blockworks' data, no methodology, and no vote/non-vote or success/failure split disclosed — same post.
- Claim that Solana has crossed 1 billion weekly transactions twice in roughly two months — @MurphyChuwang, Aug 4, 2026, unverified.

The real-world read
The publisher here is the network itself. Solana's account is an interested party promoting a metric that flatters Solana, and it is doing so by citing a third party's number without linking to it — which gets the credibility of Blockworks' name without the auditability of its data. Blockworks did not publish this claim in the post; Solana did.
Transaction count is also the cheapest on-chain metric to inflate and the least informative about economic activity. What's absent from the announcement is telling: no fee revenue, no active addresses, no share of transactions that were arbitrage bots or failures, and no price context. Two replies — @damn_then and @itsmiroko — raised exactly that, asking how much was "bots grinding for nothing" and "failed swaps." Both are anonymous accounts, and neither offered evidence.
One reply, @fenaoyarzun's "new ath on transactions, zero ath on anyone's bags," names the gap the post leaves open: throughput records and token performance are separate questions, and only one of them was addressed.
The reply thread itself is heavily populated with exchange referral-link spam (Binance and OKX sign-up campaigns from @AMIR1995HAMZA and @0xAHASANURKABIR). That is promotional material, not commentary, and carries no informational weight here.
Opinion, and whose
- @MurphyChuwang: the milestone reflects "an entire ecosystem" active simultaneously, and asks how long before it becomes daily. Forecast, unverified.
- @Lonewolfobxs: "Solana season isn't over." @Tucanosol: "only a matter of time before Solana flips Ethereum." Both are anonymous takes with no supporting data.
- @DigiMaaya: "real usage and adoption" will define the next phase. Opinion.
