Mantle shifts $2.5B Super Portal to Chainlink CCIP as LayerZero exodus tops $7 billion

Mantle is moving its $2.5 billion Bybit-built Super Portal from LayerZero to Chainlink's CCIP between July 9 and 15, part of more than $7.2 billion in announced bridge migrations since a March exploit.

Mantle said today it is migrating its Super Portal — the cross-chain bridge for its MNT token, co-developed with Bybit — from LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard. The switch runs July 9 to July 15, during which the portal is suspended. According to CoinDesk, Mantle's move pushes the total value of announced migrations from LayerZero to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) above $7.24 billion since May.

MNT, which CoinDesk puts at more than $2.5 billion in value locked, currently moves between Ethereum and Solana, with more networks planned. Mantle says existing MNT on those chains, plus activity on Byreal and Bybit, is unaffected during the cutover. Under CCT, Chainlink's oracle network secures transfers, and Mantle says it gains direct control over token pools and transfer settings.

The reported trigger is security. Cross-chain bridges are among crypto's largest attack surfaces, and CoinDesk ties the shift to the $292 million Kelp bridge exploit earlier this year, after which Kelp said it would move assets to CCIP. Other named migrations: Solv Protocol ($700M tokenized bitcoin), Lombard ($1B+), Virtuals ($700M), Re ($475M), Kraken ($330M wrapped assets) and Yuzu Money ($54.5M).

Key facts (all via CoinDesk, July 9, 2026):

  • Mantle Super Portal migration: LayerZero OFT → Chainlink CCT, July 9–15; portal suspended during window.
  • MNT value locked: >$2.5 billion; portal co-developed with Bybit.
  • Total announced LayerZero→CCIP migrations since May: >$7.24 billion.
  • Catalyst cited: $292M Kelp bridge exploit; Kelp then said it would migrate >$1.5 billion.
  • Other migrations named: Solv $700M, Lombard >$1B, Virtuals $700M, Re $475M, Kraken $330M, Yuzu $54.5M.

The real-world read. These are announced migrations, not confirmed completions — Mantle's own $2.5 billion is the largest single line item and doesn't finish until July 15 at the earliest, yet it's already counted in the $7.24 billion headline. The figures come from the migrating projects and reflect a Chainlink-favorable narrative; treat them as self-reported until on-chain settlement confirms them. The single source also contradicts itself on Kelp: it says Kelp "brought over $1 billion" in one line and "would migrate more than $1.5 billion" in another — the actual figure isn't nailed down here. The only named quote, from Mantle "key advisor" Emily Bao, is an interested party promoting the move, not an independent assessment. And a security change is not a security guarantee: swapping standards doesn't itself prove the new configuration is safer, only that Mantle now controls the settings. This is a one-source item; no independent corroboration of the aggregate figure was available.

Opinion, and whose. Bao (Mantle advisor) framed it as necessary infrastructure for tokenized assets "at scale." That's a vendor-adjacent take, not a verified outcome.
