AnchorWatch opens Nevada bitcoin custody with fixed fees and up to $370M in optional insurance
AnchorWatch Trust Company opened Monday as a Nevada-chartered qualified bitcoin custodian, offering fixed monthly fees capped at $10,000 and optional Lloyd's-backed insurance of up to $370 million per client, subject to underwriting.
AnchorWatch Trust Company began operating Monday as a Nevada-chartered qualified bitcoin custodian, pairing fixed-dollar custody fees with optional insurance that it says can reach $370 million per client, The Block reported, citing a company statement shared with it.
The company said the Nevada Financial Institutions Division authorized it to provide custody services. It is pitching fiduciaries, public companies, trusts, and high-net-worth individuals that need a qualified custodian under U.S. rules.
Two structures are on offer, per the company. In the flagship model, ATC holds the keys required for qualified custody while the client, trustee, or executive holds additional keys. A second model splits key control three ways — among ATC, BitGo in the U.S., and Isle of Man-based CoinCorner.
Pricing is charged by vault size rather than as a percentage of assets, the company said, and is capped: once a client's monthly fee hits $10,000, further bitcoin purchases or price appreciation don't raise the charge. For large holders, that caps custody cost regardless of how high bitcoin climbs.
The insurance is separate and optional, backed by A+ rated Lloyd's of London syndicates. AnchorWatch said it has authority to write policies up to $370 million per client, issued in the customer's or entity's name, covering losses from risks including violent coercion and kidnapping, and — "subject to underwriting approval, policy limits, and other terms" — fraudulent conduct by AnchorWatch itself resulting in a bitcoin loss.

The real-world read
Nearly every figure here traces to AnchorWatch's own statement, not to independent verification or a regulatory filing. The Block labels the piece as editorial, not sponsored — but the launch details, pricing, and coverage terms are the company's self-description, so treat them as marketing claims until clients and policies can be confirmed.
The headline "$370 million" is a ceiling, not a guarantee: it's "up to," "per client," and "subject to underwriting approval." The same caveat applies to the clause covering AnchorWatch's own fraud — comforting in principle, but hedged. The company didn't disclose how many clients it has, how many policies are actually bound, or the premiums, so the practical reach of that coverage is unknown.
Opinion, and whose
AnchorWatch frames fixed-dollar pricing and Lloyd's-backed insurance as a differentiator for institutional custody. That is the company's positioning, not an independent assessment.
